There are various markets on the weekends with the famous Christmas Market during the winter. Study Abroad Alumni Sophia Klein ’26 says “My favorite Galway activity was walking around the Christmas market with a hot chocolate and enjoying the company of my friends” Along with the markets, there are plenty of places to shop, eat and buy Irish goods. A main attraction in the city is the Aran Islands sweater shop where you can pick up your very own Irish sweater. Galway also provides one of the best pub cultures in all of Ireland. Pubs are a great place to hang out with friends and listen to live Irish music. Most of them play music every night and it is a “Great craic” as the locals say!
