So far it has been really amazing. The adjustment has been a little difficult mainly because of the language difference and the long commute to school. Instead of getting up 20 minutes before class and walking, we usually take a 45 minute commute with 3 different trains. All of this has really taught me how to work a train system, something that I never knew how to, so I am very thankful for and has made me very independent. I am definitely adjusting to the language difference and learning so much!! It has been really cool to keep learning Spanish while living in Spain. The first week was a bit overwhelming, but now I am much more confident in my skills and quickly learning. Classes are filled with many different students from all over the world and being able to learn from them and hear their experiences has helped me gain more knowledge and experience. Everyone is super nice and welcoming and my favorite class I am taking right now is definitely my Spanish class. The teacher is awesome at not only teaching Spanish culture but also giving us great and fun recommendations of things to see and eat while abroad.
Some fun things that we have done on a daily basis/ weekends:
We have gone to the Parque de El Reitro, so beautiful it is a massive park in the middle of Madrid. There is a pond where you can row boats, many different gardens and even a glass house.
Going out and eating tapas. Huge part of Spanish culture some of my favorites are croquetas con queso y jamon and patatas bravas, with a side of Sangria all super good and a classic Spanish meal.
Eating any and all bocadillos, especially with jamon and cheese omg they are amazing
We went to a massive open air market called the El Rastro. It was so massive in the middle of a beautiful neighborhood, selling loads of different items. So fun to go to and bought a couple cool vintage items
Went to the Museo de Prado, one of the most beautiful and largest museums I have ever seen. Filled with old Spanish ar/ famous artists
Exploring different neighborhoods of Madrid. Every neighborhood has a new vibe and a different culture and something new to see Madrid is filled with so much history and beauty.
